How to start lose weight challenge

You do not have enough motivation for losing weight?  Then this article is for you!

Making meaningful lifestyle changes is hard, especially when you're trying to lose weight. However, starting a weight loss challenge might make dropping unwanted pounds a bit easier. For many people, having the support of others who are trying to accomplish the same goal makes it easier to lose weight and get in shape.

Finding Participants

Typically, weight loss challenges are organized among coworkers. This tends to be the simplest method of recruiting participants because everyone will see each other on a regular basis. However, you can create a weight loss challenge for your friends, members of a church group, or any other collection of people you can get together for the required update sessions. Email lists, Facebook groups, and other online tools can also be used to keep participants connected during the times they are physically unable to meet.
There is no ideal number of participants for a weight loss challenge, although you want to find enough participants to make the competition meaningful. Aim to recruit at least 10 people for your project.

Organizing the Challenge

When planning a weight loss challenge, you'll need to have one or two responsible people in charge of the administrative details. Someone will need to pick a starting date for the challenge and record everyone's beginning body weight. Someone will need to track progress through regular weigh-ins. If you want your challenge to include events such as group workout sessions, someone will need to plan these activities as well. Since most weight loss challenges last between two and four months, this can end up being a significant commitment.
You will also need to select someone to be in charge of the financial aspect of the weight loss challenge. For many people, the appeal of a weight loss challenge is that there is some sort of prize offered to the winner. For example, if there are 20 people involved in the challenge and each pays $10 to participate, the winner may receive $200.
If your office has rules against contests involving cash prizes, you don't have to give up the idea of a weight loss challenge completely. The winner could be taken out for a healthy lunch or treated to a gift certificate for a membership to the local gym.

Picking a Winner

How do you determine who wins a weight loss challenge? The most obvious answer would be that the person who loses the most weight wins. However, you need to keep in mind that participants will all be starting from different points in their weight loss journey. Someone who is considered morbidly obese has much more weight to lose than someone who just wants to take off the five pounds she packed on by overindulging during her last vacation. For this reason, a weight loss challenge typically awards prizes based on the percentage of weight lost as compared to your starting body weight.

Of course, a weight loss challenge that motivates people to make healthy changes to their lifestyle is successful regardless of who wins. However, you might want to add a lighthearted touch to your competition by awarding small tokens to participants who displayed the biggest commitment to weight loss – even if they didn't lose enough to win a cash prize. Use computer clip art to make fun certificates in a desktop publishing program or pick up inexpensive trophies at your local party supply store.

So you think it's finally time to consider changing the way you eat and maybe even try to lose some weight? Well if that's the case, good for you because it's not an easy decision like some people might think, and they think that way probably because they don't happen to have a weight problem, so they just don't get it. So, if you are really serious about losing weight then you should just throw away all the diet pills and get rid of those diet books and say goodbye to those cookies and chips because here you are going to find some rules that are going to try and head you down the path to a healthy diet.
Probably the first thing that you should do before doing anything else is to call up your doctor and set an appointment with him or her so that you can discuss with them the fact that you want to lose some weight. You doctor will give you a full check up to make sure that there  is nothing wrong with you and once you have a clean bill of health you have taken your first step towards getting on a healthier diet. Your doctor also can be a wealth of information for you when it comes to giving you advice on dieting and eating healthy.

The next step is to go to your kitchen and as much as you will hate doing this, either throw out or give away all of the processed, boxed and pre-made foods that you have on hand. Then plan on never buying those items again. Those types of things are just going to kill your waistline every time.
The next thing you have to do is to commit to stop drinking sugar filled sodas and to stop eating that fast food and junk food that was probably second nature for you. Eating a lot of these items is a sure fire way of destroying a healthy diet. There's nothing healthy about any of it.

Now you are ready to start eating healthier. What you need to do is go to the store or a farmers market and buy tons and tons of fresh fruits and veggies. By going to a farmers market you will more than likely save more money than if you went to a grocery store and you will more than likely have a far bigger variety of fruits and veggies to pick from. Make sure to buy lots of carrots and celery a long with bananas for good and healthy snacks. You can also use a lot of the veggies to make homemade soups and salads.

A better place for you to buy your meat would be at a butcher and not the grocery store. This way you will have the ability to pick your own lean meats and in smaller portions than you can get at the grocery store. You should also only buy enough for 2 or 3 meals each week. Even the lean meats have fat in them.

At the grocery store you can go out and make sure that you only buy good quality as well as low fat pasta sauces, good quality bread, rice, pasta, and low fat cereal for breakfast. One of the best cereals for that would be oatmeal. Also, while you are at the store try and find some sort of meal replacements. For instance to help replace some of the meat, buy some beans, even baked beans can be a great replacement for meat. The only dairy product you should grab is some milk. You need to try and cut dairy products down to being more of a treat than a staple.
Now just add a little exercise to the mix and you are well on your way to eating healthier and losing the weight that you want to lose.
